While modern sound recordists have it easier now than they ever did thanks to advances in technology, we're now faced with different challenges in a world full of noise pollution. Getting crisp, clean recordings of nature is becoming much harder with increasing urban noises and overhead planes. I use a Zoom H6 for my audio needs and so far it's working like a treat. My main microphone for Birds and insects is a parabolic setup by Telinga, coupled with a Stereo DAT mic that produces industry standard low noise levels and crisp mid-high frequencies that really bring out the best qualities in birds and insects without much post-editing.
